Firstly, Happy New Year to all our visitors! Based on visitor feedback since this site was first launched in early February 2009, we have now revamped the homepage to include more quick-access, graphical information, which can be clearly seen on the right-hand side.
Before the August 2009 revamp to the current layout, we did provide a '2 Day forecast' using weather symbols, and text for the temperature and wind speeds. This was removed from the homepage to allow for the UV and Pollen level forecasts to be placed here, along with the addition of the Sunrise & Sunset times.
Over the Christmas period our team of graphic designers created a new set of animated weather graphics to bring you a clearer forecast. Now, not only do we provide the usual text summaries, but also a quick 2 Day forecast which provides an overview of the expected weather conditions. Please note that the animated graphics show the predominant weather condtions, so whilst we may display a 'sunny spells' symbol, this does not include a low risk of a shower, which would be mentioned in the text summary. The numbers displayed in different coloured boxes indicate either the maximum or minimum forecast temperatures, depending on daytime or overnight forecasts respectively.
We also now provide weather warnings for the region, based on feedback from regular visitors . However. we cannot guarantee that these will be up-to-date all the time, since the website is run on a voluntary basis. It should be noted that it is the Met Office's responsibility to warn the public of severe weather, not ours - we merely provide a 'heads up' approach at the possbility of forthcoming severe weather.
