Cold Spell On The Way

High pressure will bring quieter, drier and colder weather
High pressure will bring quieter, drier and colder weather

Much colder weather is expected across the region over the weekend and in particular into next week. Throughout November and the first week of December, our weather has been dominated by Low pressure systems from the Atlantic providing a constant supply of rain or showers. Fortunately, High pressure will build across the region from Thursday onwards, providing a much quieter and drier spell of weather.

Easterly breezes will develop which will make it feel quite chilly, and combined with persistent fog rolling in from the North Sea, could make it feel decidedly cold.

A few showers are possible near the coasts in particular during the weekend, but more particularly as we go into next week as much colder air is expected to arrive from Scandinavia. As a result, it is possible we may see the first snow of this winter season at some stage next week...
